New York, USA - Another tactics of dirty politics inside the CISS administration may be uncovered.
During the first twelve days of the month of December, 2005,
this Ombudsman received one and same rumor from various
sources which questioned the election procedure for the
position of the CISS Vice President during the 39th CISS
Congress session held on January 4, 2005.
The rumor was ( and still is ) that the Russian Valery
Rukhledev actually won election by collecting 66 or 62
votes.
But Lennart Edwall, the Jerald Jordan-encouraged and
appointed chief scrutineer of the election session from
Sweden ( he was also known as a bitter political rival of
Rukhledev in the European Deaf Sports Organization ( EDSO )
along with Jordan secretly, intentionally and skillfully
SWITCHED all these votes to David Lanesman, an underdog
candidate from Israel!
This way Lanesman, instead, "won" the election for this
position.
Lanesman "got" 62 votes, Rukhledev - 39, Jessica Rohde of
Denmark - 15, while 4 votes were placed as void ones
This Ombudsman also received information that immediately
after the end of election for the Vice Presidency position
Edwall dealt with Jordan by delivering to him all delegates'
voting ballots in person alone ( we have a September 3, 2005
document produced by Jordan himself, which mentioned that
"he ( Jordan ) was the very person to provide the blank
printed voting ballots to scrutineers ( or tellers ) and
that he was the very last person to collect and retain the
counted voting ballots" ).
On that document Jordan also wrote to say that "he did not
run the elections," which was a lie ( on the opposite, the
39th CISS Congress Minutes report clearly show the name of
Jordan as a floor meeting leader )
Following the reception of these rumors and in order to
responsibly double-check and verify the facts, on December
13, 2005 this Ombudsman made a swift move: he sent an-email
letter to the Executive Board of the National Deaf Sports
Association of Sweden ( SDI ) and its President Arne
Lundquist, by asking them to request their member Edwall to
provide his detailed explanation as to what he, as a chief
scrutineer of the 39th CISS Congress election session,
exactly did on January 4th.
Alas, to this minute, there has been no response from Sweden
at all!
WHAT CISS OMBUDSMAN LEARNED DURING HIS TRIP TO ISRAEL
Recently this Ombudsman made his investigative trip to
Israel where he had the opportunity to meet and talk with
various Israelis ( this Ombudsman is fluent in both Hebrew
and Hebrew Sign Language ).
On December 26, 2005, there was held a huge funeral ceremony
for Moshe Shemtov, the late President of the National Deaf
Association in Israel, in a cemetery outside the city of Tel
Aviv. By attending such a funeral ( by coincidence, Lanesman
also was present there ), this Ombudsman learned first-hand
the following facts from the Israelis:
- before the start of the elections, that is, on January 2
or 3, 2005, Lanesman spent considerable amount of time
meeting in private with Jordan, the would-to-be chief
architect of the January 4th election fraud scheme, at the
hotel premises in Melbourne ( there, Lanesman also secretly
met with the so-called would-to-be new CISS President,
Donalda Ammons );
- personally, Lanesman was "very surprised" that he won the
Vice Presidency position by defeating the Russian Rukhledev
and that he initially expected that he would, instead, win
the lesser position - Member-at-Large;
- Lanesman, as it was disclosed through the grapevine,
boasted that he won the election thanks to the "help,
encouragement and support" he received from the deaf
Americans Jordan, Ammons, Tiffany Granfors and her husband
Roland Granfors ( all of these four Americans were in
Australia during the election ) and that the Americans made
sure that the loathsome Russian Rukhledev would not get any
seat position in the new CISS Executive Committee;
- many Israelis were unaware of the fact that before the
start of the 39th CISS Congress, Israel owed to the CISS a
total of $12,500 in penalties, that is, $5,000 for its
withdrawal in hosting the 2003 Deaf World Championship in
Orienteering, $2,500 for its withdrawal of Men's Football
team from the 20th Deaflympics Qualifying Round, and $5,000
for its withdrawal of Men's Basketball team from the 20th
Deaflympics Final Round;
- many Israelis were shocked to learn that by owing $12,500
to the CISS and by violating certain CISS rules, Lanesman
was still allowed to be nominated - and to run - for the
CISS Vice Presidency position, and
-many Israelis also expressed their disbelief over the fact
that an Israeli ( Lanesman ) beat the Russian ( Rukhledev )
in the election because they believe that Russia is a world
sports power and pays to the CISS a hefty $1,000 in its
annual membership dues, while Israel, with its limited
number of deaf sports members and programs, gives away to
the CISS a mere $100 or $150 in annual membership dues.
In addition, before, during and after the December 26th
funeral ceremony, through the two middlemen - deaf and
non-deaf - a good-faith attempt was made to arrange a
face-to-face meeting between Lanesman and this Ombudsman.
The main aim of such a proposed meeting was to verify and
obtain certain facts and evidence from Lanesman directly.
However, an insecure and uncooperative Lanesman chose to
decline to meet with the Ombudsman in any manner.
Another attempt - obtaining the documentary proof on whether
Israel actually paid the $12,500 penalty fee to the CISS -
was made. Again, Lanesman flatly evaded to cooperate in
producing such a document. Nevertheless, one high-ranking
Israeli official informed this Ombudsman that they have no
evidence to support the claim that the $12,500 penalty debt
was ever paid to the CISS!
Thus, the two January 4, 2005-raised cardinal issues are up
in the air now: was there a CISS Vice Presidency election
vote switch and how and why was Lanesman allowed to run for
the high-ranking CISS position?
Let the world investigate further and make an appropriate
move.
